Olivia Lau is a licensed community pharmacist for 8 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut in 2004 and became a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2006. She has worked for a large retail pharmacy for 9 years starting from the bottom and working herself to the top; at first as a technician, pharmacy intern, staff pharmacist, and then a pharmacy manager. Working for the chain pharmacy she became burnt out so she traded the busy retail chain pharmacy life to a small independent pharmacy.
Olivia’s passion and professional interests are to find ways to heal the body through diet, lifestyle, herbs, and natural remedies. These interests arose after receiving a diagnosis of Graves Disease, a condition in which the thyroid is over active, and the accompanying realization that she was living a very stressful and unhealthy lifestyle. In order to improve her current condition and general health, she decided to change her work environment by taking on a less stressful employment opportunity and studying Ayurvedic therapy. Consequently, she enrolled in the Ayurveda health counselor program at the Kripalu School of Ayurveda in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
Ayurveda focuses on the importance of diet and lifestyle as a preventative measure, utilizing the tools of yoga and meditation to help aid in a healthy mental balanced lifestyle. When the body goes out of balance Ayurveda shows the way in getting back to balance. Olivia completed the program in June of 2015 where she received a certificate of Ayurvedic health counselor. She plans on using her knowledge, experience, and skills to provide accurate information to the public about alternative ways to prevent disease, promote healthy lifestyle changes, rebalance the body, and provide holistic approaches to improve physical and mental well being.
